I don't know if you've seen it, but The Times has an interesting &lt;a href="http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,589-2337366,00.html" rel="nofollow"&gt;article&lt;/a&gt; about using your voice at work today too (see today's blog!) - I've seen some research recently also which also suggests that pupils' learning is impeded by teachers' voice problems.

		<description>You raise an excellent point about classrooms and the use of voice.  I am a lecturer at two London Universities and in my time as a student I remember all too well straining to actually 'hear' and then try to 'understand' what many of my lecturers were trying to say.

I hope that now I am in their position, that I am clear and concise and understandable.

I still believe that if the student hasn't learned, the teacher hasn't taught.  A slight old-fashioned view, but one that is worth remembering from time to time, after all, that is what teachers and lecturers are supposed to do - isn't it?</description>
